About me
Anahit Simonyan is a feminist researcher and human rights practitioner based in Armenia, with over 10 years of experience in combating gender-based violence and discrimination. Throughout her work she has cooperated with numerous local and international organizations and networks. Since 2018 she is also the Director of Human Rights Research Center (HRRC) - a non-governmental organization in Armenia. Since 2021 she is National Human Rights and Gender Expert at the Acopian Center for the Environment of the American University of Armenia (AUA). Anahit has authored and co-authored over 30 investigations, articles and publications that address, among else, issues around combatting GBV through legislation and policy, constitutional guarantees of human rights protection, the use of UN human rights procedure, protection of the rights of women human rights defenders and activists. Anahit holds an MA in Theory and Practice of Human Rights from the University of Essex, UK.
