About me
Dr. Laura Dumitrescu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Fairfield University, where she has been a faculty member since 2022. Prior to joining Fairfield, she was a member of the Probability and Statistics research group in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, where she served as a Lecturer beginning in 2015. Before that, she was a researcher at CREST, Laboratoire de Statistique et Modélisation, ENSAI, France.
Dr. Dumitrescu earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Ottawa, Canada, in 2011. She subsequently held a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Carleton University and a Visiting Professorship in the Department of Mathematics at Washington University in St. Louis. Her research interests include mathematical statistics, asymptotic inference, martingale methods in statistics, nonparametric statistics, biostatistics, high-dimensional dependent data, and the theory of sample surveys.
