About me
Leandra Bräuninger (they/them; she/her) is a doctoral student at University College London, supervised by Dr Brieuc Lehmann and Prof. Ioanna Manolopoulou, using statistical and machine learning methods to define, quantify and mitigate genomic inequity. Drawing on algorithmic fairness, semi-parametric Statistics and Gaussian processes, conformal prediction, and applying it to topics such as equitable polygenic risk scores and variant effect prediction, Leandra’s research leverages a variety of disciplines to solve complex problems at their intersection.
Previously, Leandra held research and teaching positions in statistical fairness in genomics, mathematical malaria prediction, and fundamental biology at the Alan Turing Institute, the Mathematical Biology Group at the University of Melbourne, and the Centre for Active Learning at ETH Zurich. Leandra holds an MSc in Mathematical Modelling of Global Health (Oxford) and a BA in Data Science and International Relations (St. Gallen, CH).
