Salome Maheya, Senior Policy Officer for Energy Statistics in the African Energy Commission (AFREC) of the African Union. She is responsible for coordinating the production of annual Energy Balances, Energy Modelling and producing energy forecasts for Africa. She is responsible for training and assisting member states to establish their National Energy Information Systems which feed into the Africa Energy Information system. She coordinated the development of the Strategy for Harmonisation of Energy Statistics and is assisting in the development of other Energy policies and strategies. Salome provides guidance and support to African member states energy statistics focal persons on energy balance, energy efficiency indicators for end users, Sustainable Development Goals, CO2 Emissions and Nationally Determined Contributions. Salome holds a Masters Degree in Biostatistics and is a certified Energy Statistician and has more than 14 years’ experience in energy data collection.
