Professor Vera Lucia Damasceno Tomazella is a Full Professor and Senior Professor at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), Brazil, affiliated with the Department of Statistics. She holds a degree in Mathematics from the Federal
University of Maranhão, a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics from the University of São Paulo, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics from the University of São
Paulo. She completed two international postdoctoral fellowships: one at the University of Valencia, Spain, and another at the University of Manchester, England.
Her research focuses on survival analysis, reliability, cure models, risk models, Bayesian inference, diagnostic analysis, and nonlinear models, with applications in health sciences and cancer data.
Professor Tomazella is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) and has actively contributed to the statistical community through research, teaching, mentoring, and scientific leadership. She has also held important
professional roles, including leadership positions in Brazilian statistical and biometric societies. Her work has contributed to the development and application of statistical models for complex survival data, especially in biomedical and public
health contexts.
